The Story Behind the Marsh
Adventures at Fiddler Marsh began with a simple question: what if children could see the world through the eyes of the creatures who live in it?
The salt marsh is one of nature's most fascinating ecosystems — a place where land meets sea, where the tides shape every day, and where hundreds of species live together in a web of connection. It's also a place most kids never get to visit. So we're bringing the marsh to them.
Each book in the series follows Claw and Pebble — two young fiddler crabs — through adventures that teach real science, genuine life lessons, and a love for the natural world. Every story is rooted in actual marine biology. Every character is based on a real species. And every lesson grows naturally from the way these animals actually live.
Meet the Residents
Every character is based on a real species that lives in the salt marsh ecosystem.
A young male fiddler crab with a big claw and an even bigger heart. Claw is enthusiastic, a little boastful, and always ready for an adventure — even when he should probably think first.
A young female fiddler crab who keeps a nature journal and wants to know everything about every creature in the marsh. Pebble is curious, thoughtful, and braver than she thinks.
The wisest crab in the marsh, with a claw worn smooth by years and a voice that carries the rhythm of the tides. Papa Tide teaches patience, respect for nature, and the importance of community.
A Real Ecosystem
Every corner of Fiddler Marsh is based on real coastal salt marsh habitats. Kids don't just read about nature — they learn how an entire ecosystem works, one adventure at a time.
The whole marsh lives by the tides. High tide, low tide — each brings new adventures and new lessons.
The tall green grass that holds the marsh together — home to birds, rabbits, and tiny creatures.
Nature's water purifiers. An underwater city where hundreds of species find shelter.
The fiddler crab neighborhood — a bustling community of homes dug deep into the mud.
Little worlds left behind by the retreating tide, full of hermit crabs, snails, and surprises.
Ospreys, herons, egrets, and red-winged blackbirds — the marsh is as alive above as below.
What's Coming
We're building something special — a book series and an interactive world, designed together from the start.
The first Adventures at Fiddler Marsh chapter book is in development — 44 pages of story, science, and life lessons for ages 5–8, with discussion guides for parents in every volume.
Meet Claw and Pebble. Learn about tides, burrows, and what it means to be part of a community. Illustrated throughout, with Nature Notes and a parent discussion guide.
Step inside the marsh. An interactive companion experience where kids explore the ecosystem, meet the characters, and collect Nature Notes — bringing the books to life on any screen.
Six books spanning the seasons of the marsh, each introducing new characters, new zones, and new science. The interactive world grows with every book.
